It has been exactly a year since Gqeberha businessman Arnold Terblanche's arrest sent shockwaves through the city and for the last 365 days he has been focused on getting bail.
Terblanche is accused of being the mastermind of his estranged wife Vicki's murder in October last year.
Although Terblanche was not even in Gqeberha at the time of the murder, he is facing a total of 14 charges contained in two separate dockets, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder and defeating the ends of Justice.
State Prosecutor Advocate Marius Stander argued in court on Thursday that Vicki was entitled to a divorce settlement of R5 million but that Arnold had only offered R150 000.
The couple were married for 14 years and were busy in a bitter divorce battle focused on money and custody of their minor child.
The teenager is currently in the care of Arnold's girlfriend who has since turned State Witness.
Earlier this week Stander told Magistrate Kriban Pillay that Terblanche was a liar who would almost do anything to get what he wanted and had no problem lying to get what he desired.
Stander wrapped up his arguments on Thursday but the matter will drag on as Terblanche's team has a chance to reply.
Peter Daubermann said he would comment on the 25th of November to what he called Stander's conspiracy theories.
