Police are urging motorists in Nelson Mandela Bay to avoid using the Westville Road, Kwadwesi extension due to violent protest action.
Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says at approximately 6 am on Tuesday, a group of about 300 community members converged on the road where four vehicles were set alight.
She says three trucks and one bakkie were set alight.
It is believed the protest action has to do with housing development in the area of Kwadwesi extension.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the MMC and councillors are meeting with the community leadership.
She says Public Order Police (POPS) and Metro police are on the scene but motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
