An unknown man has died after jumping in front of a moving train at Kariega.
Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says the incident happened around 6.30 am near the De Mist train station on Thursday.
He says the train was underway to Nelson Mandela Bay and could not stop in time.
Paramedics from Eastern Cape Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene where the victim was trapped.
He was declared dead at the scene.
Beetge says an inquest docket was opened.
