Residents in Ugie have taken to the streets again on Tuesday.
They're demanding jobs from timber company, PG Bison, whose operations in the town have ground to a halt as a result of the community protests and an ongoing labour dispute.
According to a PG Bison statement, locals are demanding jobs, service delivery and infrastructure development in the area.
Spokesperson, Pieter Bruwer says the company, as a significant employer in the region, is committed to resolving grievances of the local community, but he says many of their complaints cannot be addressed by the company.
Bruwer says company assets have been damaged during the protest while workers have also been intimidated.
He says its too early to estimate the value of damage caused, adding that the torching of plantations will have an impact on the community and local businesses that benefit from the plantations.
Meanwhile PG Bison says its hoping to meet trade union CEPPWAWU this week to find to solutions to an ongoing labour dispute.
Bruwer says company representatives with the union at its headquarters in Johannesburg to request its assistance in discussions with all stakeholders, including Eastern Cape representatives, to ensure that all grievances are resolved.
CEPPWAWU''S Welile Nolingo said earlier that they are engaged in a dispute with PG Bison regarding the dismissal of five workers and shop steward this year.
He added that a dispute over the dismissal of workers in 2013 is still the subject of litigation the labour court.
