Two people were killed following a head-on collision on the N2 near Gamtoos on Friday.
Police Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says at about 9.30 am a Land Cruiser with two occupants was travelling from Jeffreys Bay towards Gqeberha when it overtook another vehicle.
She says the driver of the cruiser collided head-on with an oncoming Nissan Hardbody bakkie.
The 22-year-old female driver of the Land Cruiser and her 39-year-old passenger died at the scene.
The 43-year-old driver of the bakkie sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital in Gqeberha.
A case of culpable homicide is under investigation by Thornhill police.
The names of the deceased will only be released once the next of kin have been informed.
