Western Cape police confirmed the arrest of two suspects linked to the assassination of Mark Lifman outside the Garden Route Mall.
Colonel Andre’ Traut said they were questioned and were now being charged with the murder of the 57-year-old on Sunday.
He said the suspects, aged 37 and 53, were apprehended near Uniondale that same day, and the vehicle they were travelling in was also confiscated.
Traut said after they fled the scene, several role players, including the police, law enforcement officials, security companies, and crime watch groups were alerted to be on the lookout for the men, which culminated in their arrest.
The two will appear in the George Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Lifman was facing multiple serious charges, including murder, attempted murder, money laundering, and gang-related offences.
He, along with security company owner Andre Naude, alleged Sexy Boys gang leader Jerome 'Donkie' Booysen, and several others, face a plethora of charges linked to alleged underworld battles for the control of nightclubs.
They were charged with the murder of Brian Wainstein who was gunned down in his Constantia home in August 2017.
