Protesters in Motherwell, Gqeberha set alight an Iveco truck on Friday morning.
Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says during the early morning hours a service delivery protest erupted on the R334 (Daniel Pienaar Road) at NU29.
He says the road was closed with burning tyres and rubble.
Captain Beetge says just before 8 am, protesters used flammable objects to set a truck alight, destroying it in the process.
The truck driver was not injured.
The Public Order Police Unit had to be called to the scene to calm the situation.
Approximately 70 protesters were unhappy about service delivery, in particular, electricity supply and demanded to speak to the local councillor.
The road has since been closed to traffic and motorists are urged to use an alternative route to ensure their safety.
