The Eastern Cape Transport Department says three people were killed when three taxis were involved in a collision on the R61 between Aberdeen and Beaufort West on Christmas Day.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said the taxis were travelling in opposite directions when they collided at around 04:45.
He said all the injured were taken to Graaff-Reinet provincial hospital for treatment.
Binqose said no one in the third taxi was injured.
Police in Aberdeen have opened a culpable homicide docket for further investigation.
