Police in the Garden Route are investigating a mysterious fire that broke out at the Tree Top Chalet in Knysna Section of the Garden Route National Park (GRNP) last week.
Head of Communications at SANParks JP Louw says the fire claimed the lives of three people, including two staff members, who are yet to be formally identified.
He says the fire broke out on the 18th of July, and completely gutted the structure.
Louw says booking records suggest that the persons who were victims are two SANParks staff members and one non-staff member.
He has appealed for sensitivity to allow police to conclude their investigation and for the affected families to have the opportunity to attend to what is a most challenging experience.
