Three people were killed and two sustained serious injuries after a vehicle overturned on the R61 between Aberdeen and Beaufort West in the Karoo on Wednesday afternoon.
The Eastern Cape Transport Department says the driver of a Hyundai Creta with five occupants lost control of the vehicle.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose says three male passengers died at the scene.
Two injured male passengers and the driver were taken to the Graaff Reinet Provincial Hospital.
Binqose says speed is suspected to be the main contributor to the accident.
Aberdeen police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
