Explosive legal arguments were revealed in the Gqeberha magistrates court on Thursday, with State Prosecutor Marius Stander announcing that alleged wife killer Arnold Terblanche's girlfriend, Krystall Wiggill, has turned State witness.
Wiggill who has been to every single court appearance was not in court last week or on Thursday.
Her twin sister, Charissa Roets, was also revealed as being a State witness
Terblanche is applying for bail for the third time, based on new facts.
He is accused of orchestrating the murder of his estranged wife Vicki in October last year allegedly in cahoots with Reinhardt Leach and Dylan Cullis.
Stander has also rubbished Terblanche’s assertion that the conditions at St Albans prison are not conducive to adequately prepare for trial stating that he was not hamstrung at all and that he has access to cellphones, several sim cards and even an iPad to communicate with the outside world from his prison cell.
He said during an earlier bail application the accused implicated that he could afford R100 000 if granted bail, while he forked out half a million rand to a man he thought would be able to get him out of jail.
This man, Phindile Zweni, whom Stander referred to as corrupt, is also a State Witness.
The State said the relationship between Zweni and Terblanche was corrupt.
"You can only corrupt someone who is corrupt," he said.
Stander questioned Terblanche's decision not to press charges against Zweni, seeing that he claimed to be a victim of extortion and said the fact that he never divulged this to his legal team was proof that he did not trust them.
He labelled Terblanche as a coward who was involved in all kinds of shenanigans, including sending intimidating messages to another State witness, a female in Johannesburg.
The hearing continues.
