Police in Gqeberha have opened an inquest docket after a 19-year-old boy died at a quarry in Cotswold early on Saturday morning.
A second boy, aged 17, was seriously injured.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said from information available at the scene, it appeared that the boys had fallen from a cliff approximately 20 to 30 metres high.
She said a security officer at the quarry heard screams coming from the yard at around 04:30 and pressed the panic button.
Janse Van Rensburg said members of a private security company arrived and while patrolling the premises found the two boys, one deceased and the other with serious injuries.
She said the injured teen was rushed to hospital.
No further details were immediately available.
