Four suspects are in police custody following a brazen midday robbery at the PEP outlet at Metlife Mall in Gqeberha.
Spokesperson for police Captain Andre Beetge says three men entered the shop with firearms demanding cash and phones from the safe.
He says they fled the scene in a white Chevy Spark that was spotted by SAPS a few hours later on Highfield Road in Schauderville.
Beetge says when the driver of the car saw police a brief chase ensued, but the vehicle eventually came to a stop and the suspects tried to flee on foot.
He says all four were arrested and found in possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as a black backpack filled with phones, chargers and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspects aged between 33 and 43 will be charged with the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as the illegal possession of stolen property.
More charges could be added as the investigation unfolds.
