Four men who allegedly wanted to rob a supermarket at Beacon Way on Sunday have been arrested.
A spokesperson for police Sergeant Chris Spies says members received a tip-off about their plans and an integrated team was strategically deployed in and around the premises.
He says the men entered the shop at about 6 a.m. but presumably got suspicious and dropped their imitation firearms into a trolley before walking away.
Sergeant Spies says they then started running and police chased them, arresting two.
He says police also pounced on two suspects in a Mazda, believed to have been the getaway vehicle.
The car, according to police, was hijacked in Delft in Cape Town last month.
The men will appear in the local Magistrates court soon to face charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and being in possession of stolen goods.
