This is an excerpt of a disturbing letter that was dropped in the gardens of several homes in the Beacon Bay suburb of East London these past few weeks, spreading fear throughout the community.
As if crime in this country cannot get more outrageous, the writer of the letter further give specific instruction on how his victims would have to place the money in a bin behind a transformer on the 16th of November, between 7 and 8 pm.
This man was eventually caught following a team effort by the local residents and the South African Police who successfully made an arrest on Wednesday.
Forty-eight-year-old Clyde Zehmke made his first appearance in the East London Magistrates Court on Friday where the matter was transferred to another courtroom for him to apply for bail.
He is being charged with a schedule one offence for terrorising about 30 residents from Beacon Bay and trying to extort an amount of R22 000 from all of them.
Zehmke will be back in court on the 21st of November and is remanded in custody.
Additional charges could be added.
