The State said it would be opposing the bail application of a Gqeberha man accused of killing Bay physiotherapist, Marolien Schmidt.
Thirty-one-year-old Simxolele Zitshu appeared briefly in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The court heard that he was a repeat offender as he has prior convictions of murder and robbery.

When asked if he would apply for legal representation, Zitshu said all he wanted was to “tell the truth.”
Speaking via a translator, he confirmed his convictions for murder and robbery.
The 40-year-old Schmidt died in hospital after sustaining several stab wounds in her Richmond Hill home following an alleged break-in on Women’s Day.
Zitshu, who was arrested shortly afterward, is expected to be back in the dock on Tuesday.
