A couple who was walking along Marine Drive in Summerstrand in Gqeberha on Thursday were robbed of their phones by three suspects of whom one had a knife.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says at about 16.30, the K9 unit busy with a routine patrol in the same road, heard the victims screaming and swiftly responded.
She says they were informed that the suspects had jumped into a taxi that was stationary at a stop street.
Police stopped the taxi and arrested three suspects aged between 25 and 33.
The phones and knife were recovered.
The men are expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrates Court on Monday.
