Municipal workers in Sterkstrooom in the Eastern Cape say they're intensifying their rolling mass action over the non-payment of 118 workers.
Algoa FM News has received reports that burning barricades have been set up in the streets and that the town is at a virtual standstill.
Police are reportedly monitoring the situation.
Hermish Matyalaa of the SA Municipal Workers Union says there's been no word from the Inkwanca Municipality over the back-pay owed to workers in spite of apparent recommendations from the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs.
"We send them a note with recommendations but nothing has been done" he said
