The charge against a Gqeberha woman who allegedly arranged the kidnapping of her boyfriend's son was withdrawn against her in the Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
The state did an about-turn and withdrew the kidnapping charge against Reihana Leander, 44, who was set to bring a formal bail application before the court.
No reasons were given as to why the charge was withdrawn.
The state had previously alleged that she arranged the kidnapping of her boyfriend's 18-year-old son and that the teen had been held hostage for hours.
During Leander's appearance in the Gelvandale Magistrates Court last week, her attorney, Raynard McLaren asked that the matter be transferred to the New Law Courts due to "security concerns."
When probed, McLaren only said the security concerns pertain to his client and the "states case."
He also told the court that he needed time to further consult with his client.
The police previously told the media that the teenager was released after hostage negotiators stepped in.
Hawks spokesperson Warrant-Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana also said the accused allegedly conceded that she handed over the victim to her acquaintances.
Leander's VW Golf 7 GTI, which was allegedly used in the commission of the kidnapping, was later found abandoned.
