A group of people representing SMME contractors in the housing, electricity and infrastructure sectors, are staging a protest at municipal buildings in Govan Mbeki Avenue in Port Elizabeth.
Municipality spokesperson, Roland Williams, said they are demanding more work and contracts from the Metro Municipality.
He says Metro security officials are on site to protect Municipal buildings, staff and customers.
Williams says they do not foresee any problems in this regard.
"We want to emphasize the fact that we do understand plights of SMME's. They rely on government to provide them to work, but we have to follow processes and work within the budget and resources that we have" he said.
