The Eastern Cape Transport Department said seven people were killed and five others injured in a horror accident on the R67 between KwaMaqoma (formerly Fort Beaufort) and Seymour on Sunday.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said the crash happened at around 18:20.
He said all five male occupants of a VW Polo and two people in a Toyota Avanza died on the scene.
Binqose said the Avanza was travelling from Fort Beaufort to Seymour, while the VW Polo was going in the opposite direction when the crash occurred.
The injured were rushed to a hospital in KwaMaqoma for medical attention.
