Authorities in Gqeberha are searching for a man who was reported missing at Beachview on Saturday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said Kabega Park police opened a missing persons docket after the 39-year-old man was reportedly washed off the wall of a tidal pool and into the sea.
She said he disappeared under the water and a search was conducted.
Janse Van Rensburg said due to the challenging sea conditions at the time, it was not possible to deploy rescue swimmers and the SAPS divers into the open water.
She said SAPS would continue with patrols in the area.
