Buffalo City Metro (BCM) is warning residents about a scam targeting guesthouses in the City.
Spokesperson, Samnkelo Ngwenya, says they've received several reports about people being approached by individuals offering to assist them with their water meters which have supposedly been tampered with.
He says they would seek between R2 000 and R3 000 for this.
Ngwenya says the City is sending out a general warning, to businesses, and accommodation establishments about the scam.
He says officially, the Metro will not charge for any services on site.
Anyone who gets approached or has information on this can report to BCM Revenue Protection Management on (043) 7059214.
