Police at Da Gamaskop in Mossel Bay are appealing to the public for any help that could assist in the investigation into the discovery of the body of a baby at Hartenbos beach early last month.
Spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, says the autopsy had been concluded but no conclusive determination could be made other than the body was that of a female.
"An appeal is made to the surrounding communities adjacent to the river to come forward with any information that could assist the police to finalise the investigation," he said.
A beachgoer found the body of the baby in a cooler bag left on the beach on 13 September,
Pojie said the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition making identification difficult.
He said anyone who may be able to assist should contact Warrant Officer, Marizaan Du Plessis at the Da Gamaskop Detective branch at 044 606 2235 or 079 878 9003.
