Police in Gqeberha still have no new leads following the apparent hit on an Imam from Cape Town.
Moegsien Hendricks, 58, was gunned down in Bethelsdorp on Saturday with the incident captured on CCTV camera.
The death of Hendricks, who was the very first Imam internationally to come out as gay in 1996, has made international headlines.
His murder has been condemned by the LGBTQIA+ community as well as several other organisations who fight for the rights of the gay community.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg again asked the public to come forward with any information about the murder.
Hendricks and his driver were in extension 24 when a Hilux double cab bakkie stopped in front of them, blocking their path.
Janse van Rensburg said an unknown suspect, with his face covered exited the bakkie and fired several shots at Hendricks who was seated at the back.
There are unconfirmed reports that he was in the city to officially a gay wedding.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance's Committee for the city of Cape Town's LGBTQIA+ community has condemned what they called a hate crime that took place over the Valentine's Day weekend.
Committee Chairperson Counsellor Roberto Quintas said he was a well-respected activist and stalwart in the gay community.
He said the murder has sent shockwaves through the gay community who believe in the rights of loving and worshipping as they choose.
Hendricks worked extensively with queer Muslims through the Al-Ghurbaah Foundation, where he served as executive director.
