Five men arrested for the shooting of an East London attorney appeared in the City's Magistrates Court on Monday where it was revealed that two accused are family members.
Sive and Sinovuyo Maseti and their three accomplices were arrested just hours after the hit, on former acting judge Camagu Maseti on Friday morning.
Bongani Shezi, Fikile Mtsemla Sazi Mjaji, and Sive and Sinovuyo, are aged between 30 and 40 years of age.
The other three suspects are from Kwa Zulu Natal
They face charges including conspiracy to commit murder attempted murder, and the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Their formal bail application has been set for 20 February and the state is expected to oppose bail on the basis that the attack outside Maseti’s law office in Vincent was “premeditated” and that they would also pose a flight risk.
