Reeva Steenkamp's parents have thanked the public and the media for their interest and many messages, but have stressed that they will not be granting any interviews at this time.
Barry and June Steenkamp issued a brief statement through their lawyer, Tania Koen, this afternoon in the run-up to what would have been Reeva's 32nd birthday on Wednesday, and Oscar Pistorius's expected release from prison into correctional supervision on Friday..
Pistorius was convicted of culpable homicide and sentenced to five years' imprisonment for shooting and killing Reeva in his Silver Lakes home in Pretoria.
He is now eligible for parole after serving a sixth of his sentence - in this case, 10 months behind bars.
The Steenkamps made no mention of Pistorius at all in their statement today, and said they would focus on the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation instead during this time.
This, to commemorate her birthday and celebrate her life, what she stood for, and the joy she brought to so many lives.
