The suspects who kidnapped Lu Xiao in Kariega on Wednesday night have made a ransom demand for his safe return.
Hawks spokesperson, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela confirmed that a ransom demand has been, but declined to disclose the amount.
The demand came a day after Xiao's brazen kidnapping outside his place of employment at a mall in Kariega.
He was forced into a white Isuzu double cab bakkie by two unknown men, shortly before 6 p.m.
According to an initial police report, his vehicle was driven away by one of the suspects.
The motive for the kidnapping is unclear.
Mgolodela says Hawks detectives are working around the clock to ensure Xiao's safe return.
