Protest action is still continuing in Ugie.
According to Ward Councillor, Thamsanqa Pikinini, residents were still burning tyres on Wednesday.
He also told Algoa FM News that protesting community members are expected to meet with other stakeholders, including the ANC, Cosatu and other unions.
Ugie residents are demanding jobs from timber company PG Bison, as well as service delivery and infrastructure development in the area.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Victor Bojabotseha, says five people were arrested for public violence and appeared in the Maclear Magistrate Court on Tuesday.
They were granted bail for R1000 each.
They will appear in court again on the 9th of September.
