A pregnant woman and her unborn child were among four people who were killed in a horror accident in Kariega on Thursday morning.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said the circumstances surrounding the collission between an Atlas Security vehicle and a passenger car are still being investigated.
She said the driver of the car and two children, aged 11 and six, were unharmed.
Janse Van Rensburg said the driver's wife, a friend and the pregnant woman died as a result of the accident.
A case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
The names of the deceased have not yet been released.
In a brief statement, Atlas Security confirmed that one of its response officers was involved in the accident.
The officer did not sustain serious injuries.
