She said on Sunday, 14 July, the teenager was picked up by an e-hail driver in a black Hyundai for a ride to Summerstrand.

Janse Van Rensburg said the suspect however drove to the North End lake where the victim managed to flee but was chased and caught by the suspect.

She was allegedly raped inside the vehicle before the suspect drove off, leaving the young woman behind.

She made her way home and a case was opened at Mount Road SAPS and an identikit of the suspect, who is about 1.7m tall and aged between 20 and 25, was compiled.

Janse Van Rensburg appealed to anyone who can assist in tracing the suspect to contact Warrant Officer Timothy Minyayo at 071 475 1731 or Crime Stop at 0860010111 or the nearest police station.
