An elderly Gqeberha man, who police initially thought had died of natural causes, had in fact been murdered.
Police are now reaching out to the community for information on the perpetrator or perpetrators who killed 87-year-old Ockert Bosch in Cotswold Extension
Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says on 19 August this year at around 8.45 in the morning community members alerted police to a possible housebreaking-in-progress in Hornbill Crescent.
They had apparently noticed someone running from the house and the back door forced open.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the house was ransacked and Bosch's body was found lying on the floor.
Post mortem results later revealed he had suffered blunt force trauma to the head.
Various items were stolen including clothing, household appliances a washing machine and two- 12 piece Noritake Chinese Tea sets with a very specific pattern.
Police are investigating a cases of housebreaking and murder and anyone with information is asked to contact their nearest police station.
