Police hunt for killer of PE security guard

Port Elizabeth police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a security guard in broad daylight on Tuesday afternoon.

Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says 37 year-old Petrus van Niekerk of Algoa Park was preparing to go on duty at a business in Commercial Road when he was shot.

Van Rensburg says a witness told police that a suspect had been seen fleeing the scene.

The motive for the killing of Van Niekerk is still not known.
