Police are offering a substantial reward after the body of a Plettenberg Bay resident was found next to his dead dog on Friday morning.
Sixty six year old John Barnes was discovered by his wife in his bedroom in Wittedrift.
Police captain Malcolm Pojie says Barnes and his dog had both sustained multiple bullet wounds.
According to Pojie, an on-scene preliminary investigation did not show any sign of forced entry.
He urged anyone with information on the murder to contact the nearest police station.
