Gqeberha police said a 44-year-old man, who was allegedly a “person of interest” in the murder of community activist, Pamela Mabini, was gunned down at the Njoli Street taxi rank on Monday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said a case of murder is under investigation following the shooting at around noon.
She said the deceased was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
“The investigating officer confirmed that the deceased was a person of interest in the murder case of Pamela Phumla Mabini (46), who was shot and killed on Friday 7/03 in Tshauka Street, Kwazakhele,” Janse Van Rensburg said in a statement.
Police are urging anyone who may have information regarding the murder of the man to contact the investigating officer D/Col Anthea Hector at 082 457 5036 or Crime Stop at 08600 1011 or the nearest police station.
“Anonymous tip-offs can also be communicated via MySAPS App. All information is confidential, and callers may remain anonymous,” she said.
