A man from Peddie who allegedly raped his minor son who was chained inside his house has been arrested.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the 53-year-old father has been on the run since the 31st of May and was traced and arrested in Gqeberha on Sunday.
She says he was found hiding at a relative's house in NU11 in Motherwell.
The man, who may not be named to protect the identity of his eight-year-old son, will be transported back to Peddie where he is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
Colonel Naidu says community members alerted police about the maltreatment of the boy who was cuffed and chained to a house at Mgababa Village outside Peddie.
She says the police freed the child and took him to hospital for treatment.
The boy was discharged on Saturday and placed in the care of his grandmother.
The father will be charged with rape and child neglect.
