PE man who was electrocuted identified as former cop and wife killer

The electrician who was electrocuted  and killed while repairing wiring for a client at a home in Westering, Port Elizabeth, on Tuesday has been identified as former police sergeant and convicted killer Uyslen Nel.

He was 46 years old.

Police captain Johann Rheeder told AlgoaFM News that an inquest docket had been opened into Nel's death.

Emergency Services rushed to the scene and were unable to resuscitate Nel, who was electrocuted in the ceiling of the house.

Nineteen years ago in February 1996, Nel shot and killed his 25 year-old wife Natasha and their two young sons Marius and Robin on the road between Uitenhage and Despatch.

He was sentenced to three life terms in jail and was released on parole last year.

Nel, who remarried 9 months ago, earned several qualifications in prison, including that of an electrician.
