PE man allegedly kills mother, attacks sister, before killing himself

Police in Port Elizabeth are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder after a man allegedly attacked his mother and sister.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says police found the 78-year-old Barbara Sturdy and her 57-year-old daughter Sandra Coetzee lying outside a house in Kanarie Street in Cotswold shortly after 8.30 pm on Sunday night.

Both victims were stabbed in the neck.

Naidu says Sturdy died on the scene and Coetzee was taken to hospital.

It is alleged that Coetzee arrived at the house to drop off her mother when an altercation broke out between Sturdy and her son, Maurice Pirzenthal.

Pirzenthal's body was later found in his car in the garage where he allegedly gassed himself.

The 49-year-old Pirzenthal has been embroiled in a six-year legal battle with his mother after he bought her house in 2012.

The Herald reported in March that Pirzenthal lost his court battle and was told to vacate the premises by the end of May.

According to the report Pirzenthal had several tenants in the house under an apparent Non-Government Organisation, something his mother disputed, saying he only had tenants for financial gain.

Police are investigating a case of murder, attempted murder and inquest.
