A Port Elizabeth policeman made a brief court appearance on Thursday morning in connection with a false bomb threat at a branch of Absa Bank.
The 38-year-old Sergeant Nathan Slater was off-duty when he entered a branch of the bank in Greenacres Shopping Centre in May.
He allegedly indicated to bank personnel that he would activate an explosive device if his demands were not met.
The case was postponed until the 16th of September where he will be referred to the Fort England Psychiatric hospital in Grahamstown.
At the time of the incident Slater was receiving assistance and counselling from the SAPS employee health and wellness section.
