Pastor accused of rape granted bail

The Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court has granted bail to a local pastor accused of rape.

The 60-year-old appeared in court on Thursday where he was granted bail of R5000.

The pastor was arrested on 12 October in connection with the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman on several occasions in 2021.

Authorities said some of the incidents took place at the church in the seaside town.

The name of the suspect may not be released until he has pleaded and the case was postponed to 1 December.
