The body of the woman found at the salt pans in Missionvale, Port Elizabeth, last Friday has been identified by her sister as Gelvandale resident Monique Whitebooi.

Port Elizabeth police are seeking the community’s assistance in tracing a suspect, or suspects, involved in the murder of a 25-year-old man in Missionvale. Colonel Pricilla Naidu says police attended to a complaint of a shooting in Balfour Heights late on Saturday evening, where they found spent cartridges at the corners of Corsa and Acadian Streets.

Five people were killed in a head-on-collision on R408 between Willowvale and Dutywa in the Eastern Cape late on Saturday afternoon. The Provincial Traffic Department says a man and a woman in a Toyota Tazz were travelling in the direction heading of Willowvale when it collided with a Toyota Avanza with six occupants.

Port Elizabeth police are searching for a number of suspects who robbed an ambulance driver in Walmer township. Colonel Pricilla Naidu says it is alleged that the EMS ambulance responded to a call in Area Q for medical assistance early on Saturday morning. The driver alleged that about five men approached her and threatened her with a firearm and knives while three other medical assistants were attending to the patient at the back.

Western Cape police are searching for a 14-year-old girl from Oudtshoorn, who has been missing since Sunday. Mishanay Beronique Jansen was last seen in the town when she got into a bottle-green Volkswagen Jetta with two men.

Eastern Cape police have opened a case of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 30-year-old man in Alice. Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says it is alleged that the deceased was walking with his friends in High street on Saturday morning when he was stabbed with a knife in the upper body by an unidentified person.

An 83-year-old man from Port Elizabeth is currently in hospital after he was allegedly assaulted in his house in Greenshields Park. Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the victim is unable to speak at this time and therefore a 'Skeleton docket' was opened by Saps.

Police in Port Elizabeth were summoned to the salt pans in Missionvale on Friday where the body of a partially dressed woman was found. Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the woman was wearing a black gown with no underwear and had sustained multiple stab wounds and bruises.
