A commercial fisherman in Nelson Mandela Bay got more than he bargained for this week when he was bitten by a shark on board his vessel. The crew member was bitten by the shark that had been caught in the nets of the fishing vessel during normal fishing operations off-shore of the City.

Hundreds of Enoch Mgijima Municipality residents shut down the town centre in Komani (formerly Queenstown) on Thursday over ongoing power outages. Police responded with rubber bullets and tear gas. Residents want the “dysfunctional” municipality to be dissolved.

Thirty-one-year-old Sivenathi Mkaba was remanded in custody and will be back in court on the 7th of February for a formal bail application.

A man who allegedly robbed and assaulted a farmer from Steytlerville in the Eastern Cape has been arrested. The 50-year-old suspect was spotted by alert community members on Wednesday who saw him walking without his shirt on the R329 between Wolwefontein and Steytlerville.

A suspect who tried to break into a house in an upmarket estate in Gqeberha has been shot in the leg. The incident happened shortly after midnight on Wednesday at an estate situated in Colleen Glen, on the outskirts of Gqeberha.
