Police in Jeffreys Bay are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a man was killed in a head-on collission on Monday. Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the accident happened after 5 a.m. this morning on the N2 between Gqeberha and Jeffreys Bay.

The 93-year-old woman who died when a huge wave crashed over her in a parking lot at Leentjiesklip in Wilderness on Saturday has been identified. The victim was a retired mathematics teacher from Bloemfontein, Jo Hartman.

A farmer from Aberdeen accused of rape, human trafficking, intimidation and assault has been denied bail. Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Luxolo Tyali says they succesfully opposed the bail of 41-year-old Louis Lategan in the Graaff Reinet Magistrates Court. He says the magistrate agreed with the prosecution that Lategan failed to prove exceptional circumstances for his release on bail and was a flight risk.

A reward is being offered for the recovery of two birds that were stolen from Raptor Rescue in Plettenberg Bay on Wednesday evening. Director, Laura Fotheringham, says they are an American Black vulture, named Blackie, while the other is a yellow-billed kite named Capone.
