Heavily armed guards have been posted at the home of a prominent Kariega businessman, whose wife was kidnapped as she exited her driveway on Wednesday morning. 

A 52-year-old man from East London facing child pornography charges was granted bail of R5 000 in the City's Magistrate Court on Thursday. The man, who cannot be named as he has not yet pleaded, was arrested on 5 March in a joint international operation with Homeland Security in the United States.
