The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) has expressed its concern after over 100 Cape gannets were found on Bird Island covered in suspected fish oil. A spokesperson for SANCCOB Monica Stassen says a ranger first spotted about 20 gannets on Sunday and together with rangers from SANParks more were found.

An apparent municipal demarcation dispute has led to a community protest in the Mbizana area in which protesters dug a deep trench across the R394. Transport Department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said they condemn the protest and damage to the road infrastructure.

The Gqeberha High Court on Tuesday declared the Board of the Nelson Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) lawful. The court also ordered the municipality to pay the MBDA all of the money that had been withheld, as per their service level agreement.
