One person was killed while 14 others sustained injuries in a three-vehicle collision on the R-56 in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday morning.
The spokesperson for the Provincial Transport Department, Unathi Binqose, said the crash involved a midi-bus, a truck and a bakkie.
He said it is alleged that the truck overtook the midi-bus and collided head-on with a bakkie, travelling from the direction of Matatiele.
Binqose said 13 of the 31 passengers in the midi-bus were taken to hospital, while one person in the bakkie sustained injuries.
The name of the victim, who was the driver of the bakkie, is not yet known.
A case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
