One person was killed and five others injured in an accident in East London this morning.
The Eastern Cape Transport Department says the crash occurred on the N2 near the Nahoon turn-off.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said the driver of a Suzuki car lost control of the vehicle which rolled about 20 metres down an embankment.
He said one person sustained fatal injuries, while the other five, including the driver, were rushed to a hospital.
Binqose pointed out that there were no schoolchildren involved in the accident.
"Initial reports were that these were school learners, but it was actually adults. Some of them were wearing uniforms, probably belonging to one of the security companies," he said.
The cause of the crash is not yet known and SAPS will open a culpable homicide docket.
The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
