Off-duty police officers arrest hijacking suspects, recover truck

Two off-duty Flying Squad members arrested four suspects who allegedly hijacked a truck in Newton Park at about 10:20 on Monday morning.

In a brief statement, police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the officers followed the truck and a Quantum mini bus taxi and, at the intersection in Circular Drive, the vehicles were blocked off.

Colonel Naidu said shots were fired and the suspects were arrested.

A firearm was also recovered.
