Numsa hopeful it will be reinstated into Cosatu

Numsa says it is hopeful that other unions affiliated to Cosatu will be powerful enough to see them reinstated into the trade union federation.

Numsa General Secretary Karl Cloete says while Cosatu has made it clear it has no intentions of allowing a debate or discussion about the reinstatement of the expelled union or its former general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi, every delegate at Cosatu's Special National Congress this week must boldly and freely demand that Numsa be returned and Vavi reinstated in his position.

Cloete says anything short of this will see the end of Cosatu.

Meanwhile, Cosatu president Sdumo Dlamini, says it is all systems go for the congress, despite others planning to deal with other matters.

"This is the framework document for discussion. We are aware that other people have prepared other documents, outside the work that we are doing, to counter this work that we are busy on. They also want to feed into the new thing they want to be forming, which they pronounced that it will be born that it will be born during the time we are having our own special congress. We are ready and set for our special congress" he said.
