Nineteen-year-old NMMU student Asadullah Ajimudin has died following an horrific attack at his Summerstrand digs in the early hours of Saturday morning.
He was beaten into coma with a cricket bat during what appeared to be a break in .
Port Elizabeth police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans says Ajimudin's parents had travelled down from Kimberley to be at their son's bedside.
He says they took the difficult decision on Tuesday morning to turn off the life support machines at the Intensive Care Unit of St Georges hospital.
Labans told AlgoaFM News that the docket had now been changed from one of attempted murder to one of murder and that police were placing a strong emphasis on the case.
